Mahi Desai

Co-Founder

Mahi is a senior in the Academy for Math, Science, and Engineering at Morris Hills High School. She strives to raise awareness of the struggles faced by those in need. Mahi began crocheting when she turned twelve when she received a few hooks and a bundle of yarn as a birthday gift. She has donated to organizations in the past and co-founded a crochet and knitting club, String Theory, in school dedicated to donating the items to people in need. She is determined to make an impact on the community around her and put a smile on a person’s face at the end of the day. Aside from this hobby, Mahi enjoys writing poems, watching tv, playing soccer, and baking!

Emily Chen

Co-Founder

Emily is a senior at the Academy for Math, Science & Engineering in New Jersey. She taught herself to crochet beginning in 2021 only by watching YouTube videos, and since then has created everything from hats to purses, occasionally developing her own patterns. She enjoys gifting stuffed animals to her loved ones. In the past, she co-founded Caring Creatures, an organization which sold crocheted animals and donated the proceeds to hospitals. She is passionate about helping others and bringing joy to the people who need it most. Aside from crocheting, she is interested in math, computer science, and engineering. In her free time, she likes to read, play tennis, and sleep.
